WAITING FOR JAMES B Creation 2019
Waiting for James B. calls on emancipation of bodies through dancing pleasure beyond the usual divisions. The artists’ imaginary spreads both among the audience and on the stage, defying the stereotyped borders between the spectacular form of the show and the more savant one of choreographic writing.
The theater is both the traditional black box where audience and scene face each other and clubbing space in which artists go to meet the public in a common celebration of a jubilant swing.
Dance takes roots in a pulsation that reveals its timeless character, a musical repertory alternately jazz rock, hip hop, contemporary, African.
The creation makes five men perform, a woman and a joker too. A feminine audacity of Hélène Taddei Lawson who, alongside her partners, runs the risk of being closer to the public, where the «beat» makes hearts beating and bodies.
«This is a man’s world but it wouldn’t be nothing without a woman or a girl...»
